Discovery Of A Longevity Gene That Can Make Humans Live Longer

This is one of the main questions that medical researchers from all parts of the world have being try to find answers to. After some analysis, medical xpo researchers from Kiel University, in conjunction with the University Medical Centre in Germany, have discovered a longevity gene that has been proved beyond any doubt that it is the gene that make hydra immortal.

What exactly are Hydra?
Hydra are very tiny freshwater organisms that up until now have never shown any signs of ageing. Their mode of reproduction is budding instead of mating that most animals and humans use to reproduce. A closer look at their reproduction showed that each of these polyps has a number of stem cells that help to facilitate the reproduction process. The study further indicates that a lack of these stem cells would significantly alter the process of reproduction.

Ageing in humans affects the ability of the stem cells to divide in a bid to form new cells, to replace the old cells. Since the ageing tissue cannot regenerate itself, some of the body tissues such as muscles, become very weak and unusable. Due to lack of stability, the heart muscles can also become very weak, and this in turn leads to fatigue among elderly people. The medical exhibitions research aimed to come up with measures that can be used to ensure the human body functions normally despite the ageing factor.

Discovery Of A Longevity Gene

The researchers discovered FoxO Gene, which can be found in virtually all animals and human beings. The study aimed to evaluate the significance of this gene to ageing, by looking at some of the biochemical processes that result in ageing. Further analysis showed that animals that had fewer FoxO genes had significant changes in their immune system as compared to other animals. In addition, the drastic changes that were observed in Hydra were also observed among the elderly people that were used in the research.

Extensive medical research
Further medical xpo scrutiny revealed that the longevity gene, FoXo has a direct impact on the immortal aspect of the Hydra and aging in humans. In addition, the gene was found to be intensely active in persons older than 100 years, as compared to the younger generation. Hence, there is enough proof to state that this gene plays a very important role in the ageing process. However, this hypothesis has to be carried out on a number of humans with different genetic makeup before it can be approved by the relevant authorities.

The results are a significant step in the right direction as researchers try to understand the ageing process, and some of the mitigation measures that can be used to stop the process. Further research will also help to discover some of the biochemical processes that FoxO gene takes part in Hydra system. In addition, there is a need to analyse some of the environmental factors that can affect the human cells, either positively or negatively.
