What to Look for in a Mid-Range Phone
Smart phones have changed the overall experience of using a mobile phone. Today using a mobile phone is not just about sending or receiving calls and text messages but also is a great device for snapping photos and for doing video calling etc. Samsung has very recently come up with the Galaxy S3 Mini as the mid-range counterpart to its Android version. If you observe the type of phones people walking through the streets are using, you will see that they actually use some of the latest and best models instead of using some old fashioned phone. What actually encourages people to buy and use them are their unique features and affordable price. With the recent launch of the Apple iPhone 5, and a whole range of other excellent handsets on offer, choosing the right kind of mobile phone within a stipulated budget is not difficult, especially with the introduction of Microsoft ‘s Windows Phone 8 operating system.

Operating Systems
iOS, Android and Windows are three operating systems that have a lot to offer and will impress people from all walks of life depending on what they are actually looking for.

  • iOS has a well-integrated network and fairly good interface. But as for content it is confined to iTunes
  • Android in contrast is more user friendly but each set has its own specifications
  • Windows Phone 8 is coming up with fresh, appealing features but still it isn’t flexible.

So when you are buying an Android Phone you should think about the version of the OS you want to use. Phones with this OS usually suffer from fragmentation as carriers and manufacturers include their own software layers which sometimes get in the way of an update. In that case you should try to avoid Android 2.3 Gingerbread or older Android versions, and rather go for an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.1 Jelly Ocean. If you happen to be an Android fan then you should opt for the latest Google Nexus handset, LG Nexus 4 which runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Features to Look For
While going to buy a mid-range mobile phone, you should keep some important points in mind. Check out the colour display of the mobile phone you are actually using. You should see whether the camera on the phone is of good quality. Get an idea about the quality of voice notes, analogue roaming and the custom ring tones it has. In case you are looking for Bluetooth capability you should opt for the Motorola E815 model.

Make a list of the features you are looking for and plan your budget accordingly. Since phones come in a wide price range, you should keep in mind the features which you want in your wish list. Also be sure what you actually need from your phone. Is it for just sending SMS or for talking or updating your status on Facebook, browsing through the internet or for video calling. You should ideally look for features like GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G and Apps store.
