Samsung has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone - the Samsung Galaxy S4. The new phone is packed with a host of innovative features and high-end hardware specs which are yet to be seen in any other smartphone. Let's take a brief look at the main features and specs of the S4.

Hardware:
Though the highlight of the Galaxy S4 is its software features, it also offers a significantly improved hardware package. It has a 5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 X 1920 pixels, giving it a pixel density of 441 ppi. Samsung has also increased the processing fire power by including a Exynos 5 Octa 5410 chipset which features a quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A15 processor and a quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor to provide a significant boost in performance.

The internal memory in the phone will vary as Samsung will be launching its flagship phone in 3 models - 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. However, all o them will feature a microSD card slot for expanding the memory capacity further by up to a maximum of 64 GB. The S4 also has an improved 2600 mAh battery and a 13 megapixel camera on its back.

Software features:
While the hardware of the phone didn't hold any surprises as the specs of the phone were leaked almost a week ago courtesy of a Antutu Benchmark result, Samsung managed to impress everyone with its software. There are some excellent features in the camera interface which will truly impress smartphone users. Among them is the dual shot mode which allows you to simulatenously use the front and the back facing camera to take a single shot or video. You can also record photos with sound which can be great choice if you want to wish someone Happy Birthday.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has a S-Translator feature that allows you to speak or type in one language and then have the phone translate to any other language you want. That's a great tool to have if you are visiting a foreign country. eg: If you are having trouble in communicating with someone in France, all you have to do is speak in English and have the phone translate it to French. Not just that, the phone will also translate the response from the other person to English. Samsung has also included an enhanced voice recognition software called S-Voice Drive which automatically reads out your emails and messages, accepts responses through your voice, provides turn-by-turn voice navigation and much more while you're driving.

Hands-off features:
Samsung has incorporated a lot of cool gesture-based features into the S4's user interface. There is a Smart Pause feature which automatically stops a video when you move your eyes away from the screen and turns it back on when you look at the display again. Users can also use the phone without actually touching the screen through the use of Air Gestures. You can simply wave your hand over the display to swipe left, right, scroll, pick calls, etc.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 also makes sure you are fit and healthy with the S Health feature. It allows you to check your heart beat, count the number of steps you've travelled and much more without the need of any extra hardware. You can also connect it to other devices to monitor your blood pressure, sugar levels and other data.

Final Thoughts:
From our first impressions of this handset, Samsung has done a fabulous job of making the S4 unique compared to the host of flagship Android smartphones available in the market. By the looks of things, the company is all set to tighten its hold over the premium smartphone market with its latest flagship phone.
