Although there are no specific subjects one can take, maths, engineering, graphic design, art and computers can help significantly. Make sure you gain enough credit to go to university where you can broaden your knowledge on the field of furniture design.

University Training

To become a furniture designer, one needs to look at completing a bachelors degree- this is highly advantageous. To become a furniture designer, one should look at a degree that focuses on visual arts or mathematics and could also consider a fine arts or engineering approach. More technical majors for becoming a furniture designer are graphic design or computer programming.

The importance of a portfolio

To get a job as a furniture designer, one needs to have a comprehensive portfolio of all of their work. Your portfolio should consist of all the great work and ideas you have done over the years. This is incredibly important as this will be shown to possible employers and clients.
