Heart Machine, the developer of the award-winning action/adventure games Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash, has announced Hyper Lite Breaker. The game is a 3D co-op action title that will feature cooperative gameplay. While the two games are not a direct sequel, they are similar enough in style. The first trailer shows off a stylized animated sequence, followed by a look at the game in-engine.
Players will control Breakers who must travel the Overgrowth to overthrow the vengeful Abyss King. The game will feature massive biomes and features a variety of combat and gathering options.
The game was first announced in 2017, but it has been delayed many times. It will now launch in early access on Steam, with a release window in spring 2023. The game is currently wishlist-able, but it’s unclear when it will launch on Steam Early Access.
It will also be available online, but it isn’t yet clear what engine it will use. Although it is being developed by Gearbox Publishing, the company is well known for the Unreal Engine.
