Welcome to another installment of our weekly guides; this week’s guide will cover New World. Specifically, we will be exploring armor leveling and what precisely that takes! As all MMO lovers are sure to know, your armor is an essential piece of your adventure and your identity. Not only can it protect you in those battles against bosses, but it can indicate your wealth and standing in-game.

Of course, there is the option to buy New World Gold and, in turn, purchase your armor that way; however, for those of us who aren’t made of money, let’s get into how to best level your armor in New World.

What is Armoring? What does it do?

The Armoring skill is used in the New World to build armor; of course, it covers all grades of armor from light to heavy duty. You will have to move around the settlements to craft the different types of armor at separate stations, such as outfitting stations for simplistic linens and forges for an iron breastplate.

Your playstyle will also play a part in which armors will be needed for your endeavors, as will your build. You can maximize certain aspects of your character, but this comes at the cost of another. Finding your balance is all a learning curve, and you will need to take some time to familiarize yourself with the mechanics of this skill.

What to Craft?

Linen Shirts- As all basic armors produce the same amount of XP, you may as well spend your time wisely. Linen Shirts are the quickest and easiest to create, so you’ll need to create plenty. Though be wary that they require quite a few resources, so make sure you’re prepared.

Cloth- This is the first item you will need to stock up on and craft. To do so, you will need to complete a few steps first, starting with getting your Harvesting skill to level 25. At this level, you will be able to track Hemp plants on your map, which you can collect and create cloth at the loom.

Coarse Leather- One of the resources needed is Coarse Leather; firstly, you will need to follow some steps. You will first need to acquire rawhide; to do so, you will need to get your hands on a hunting knife and make your way out to the woods. We recommend hunting wolves, as the amounts received are the most beneficial when it comes to the time taken. Once you have acquired the rawhide, you will need to take it to a leather working station to refine the material.

Iron Ingots- Another resource you will need is Iron Ingots. For this, you will be required to level your Mining skill to level 25 at least. This leveling will then allow you to see the Iron Ore Veins in

your compass map. Next, get yourself a pickaxe and start mining. This resource is one of the most difficult to get your hands on, but given you work at it; you’re sure to get what you need!

Once you have enough, head to the smelter and create the needed Iron Ingots.

Sateen Pants (Leggings)- Creating Linen Shirts should carry you easily to level 50; once here, you’ll want to change up the tactics used to continue your leveling journey. Now you should have unlocked sateen clothing and will be creating Sateen Pants. Changing to this method will provide you more XP for a quicker ascension through the Armoring skill.

Sateen- You will still need Linen to move forward. As this is a component of Sateen, you will also need a cloth weave. There are three variations you can use; each is acquired differently. The cross weave is the first; this can only be obtained through crates, containers, and chests. You can find these all throughout the map, though this will require entering into combat. If, however, you are more inclined to a peaceful approach, we recommend the silk weave. Though this comes with its own challenges, you will need the following:

  • Advanced materialconverter
  • Tier 4 craftingmaterials

Or a Wire weave which will require:

  • Master materialconverter
  • Tier 5 craftingmaterials

Much like creating Linen Shirts, you will need to use Coarse Leather and Iron Ingots.

Silk Gloves- It is at this point you will want to change up your tactics again. Creating Sateen Leggings will see you to level 100, but it will no longer be as efficient as Silk Gloves. So let’s discuss how to create those to see us through our next bout of leveling. At this leveling, you will unlock silk clothing, so let’s explore what is needed.

Silk- Now that you have unlocked silk, you should make good use of it! Firstly, you will need Sateen and cross weave, both of which you should have from the previous skilling in Armoring. Next, you will need to create the silk itself. To do so, you will need to acquire the fibers from the silkweed, then refine them at the loom. Keep in mind that your Harvesting level will have to be at least 100 in order to do this.

Just like previous skilling sessions, you will need Coarse Leather and Iron Ingots.

Infused Silk Gloves- We recommend creating Infused Silk Gloves for your final push toward 200 Armoring.

Wirefibre- The only new material you will need for this final bout is Wirefibre. You can acquire this by harvesting the Wireplant.
