A new firmware 22.214.171.124 update is now available for Surface Book 3 users. The 15 inch Surface Book 3 models has the firmware version 126.96.36.199. The update includes stability and security improvements as well as improvements to the deice thermal management. It can be downloaded from Windows Update and installed by restarting the device. However, not all Surface users will be able to download this update.
The update will be rolled out to all Surface Book 3 devices in phases. Once installed, users cannot go back to the previous version. They must restart their Surface Book 3 devices to complete the update. Microsoft says there are no known bugs in this update. Users are encouraged to upgrade their Surface Book 3 as soon as possible.
Microsoft also plans to launch new Surface devices soon. Rumors point to a redesigned fourth-generation Surface Book. In the meantime, the company is continuing to release firmware updates for existing devices.
The latest firmware for the third-generation Surface Book 3 can be downloaded from Windows Update. The update improves system stability, device thermal management, and a critical security vulnerability.
