There are some truly fabulous cell phones on the market nowadays, a making an educated choice can be difficult. Most manufacturers make at least one high end hand set, and choosing between them is indeed difficult.For example, the Samsung Galaxy S III is widely considered to be the best mobile phone currently on the market. It is very high end, but it also comes with a pretty hefty price tag.
On the other hand, LG’s Nexus 4 seems equally high end, but is quite a bit cheaper than the Samsung. Does being cheaper make it a better deal? Not necessarily. Although, to be honest, there is little to choose from between the two devices. But looking at their specs can give us a better idea of which phone is really better…

The Nexus 4: What it Offers…
The Nexus has a few advantages over the Samsung Galaxy.
Firstly, it’s just faster. The Nexus runs a 1500 MHz processor, versus the Samsung’s 1400 MHz, making it around ten per cent more powerful and therefore snappier and more responsive.
Something else that gives the Nexus better responsiveness is that it comes with double the RAM (2 MB as opposed to 1 MB on the Samsung), which also helps the phone to multi task better, handling more operations at the same time whilst still keeping its speed.

When it comes to the screen, on paper the Nexus can end up looking better. It has a higher resolution screen by around ten per cent, plus a slightly higher PPI (pixels per inch), both of which should add up to make the picture quality brighter and sharper than on the Samsung. However, this isn’t exactly how it seems, as you’ll see when we discuss the screen on the Galaxy. All in all, the Nexus is a fine phone to have.

The Galaxy S III: What it Offers…
Again, there are a couple of advantages to be had here.
The first is that the Galaxy comes with four times the internal storage of the Nexus. That’s a good 32 GB as compared to the 8 GB on the Nexus. Four times more application, data, photos and videos can be stored on the Samsung, and that’s a lot.

Also, it’s slightly thinner, by around ten per cent, which makes it look a little more attractive and makes it easier to slip into your pocket.

Thirdly, the Samsung comes with a built in FM radio. This might not seem like a big deal, there are a lot of radio apps on the market, but if you are a radio junkie, it is a nice thing to have.
But the true advantage of the Samsung lies in its screen. Samsung went with a Super AMOLED screen for the Galaxy, whereas LG decided to go with an old fashioned LCD. This means that despite the Nexus having a higher screen resolution and PPI, the Galaxy ends up having the brighter and clearer picture quality.

The Best Deal?
That’s the question. If we were going for the best phone, the Samsung would probably take it, particularly with the Super AMOLED screen which looks great. However, given the price difference between the two models, the best deal is probably the Nexus. The screen doesn’t make a big enough difference to warrant the extra cash. But they are both pretty nice phones…
