Why You Want the HTC Droid DNA…
With mobile phones speed is always an important characteristic, and the Droid is a speedy phone. It runs a far faster processor than the Sony (1500 MHz as compared to 800 MHz), making it more powerful, faster and more responsive. It also has four times more RAM than the Xperia (2MB as opposed to only 0.5 MB), which not only helps with responsiveness, but also makes the phone better able to handle multi-tasking and running multiple applications at the same time. It also has more internal storage (16 GB versus 2.9 GB), meaning you can put more photos, data, music and movies onto your device. When it comes to the screen, the Droid wins out again. Its display is bigger than that of the Xperia (five inches compared to 3.2 inches). But it also has a far higher screen resolution (by a massive factor of thirteen times) and around two and a half times more PPI (pixels per inch). This means that the display on the Droid is clearer, crisper, more colourful and better defined than that on the Xperia. Finally, the camera is also of a higher resolution, being 8 MP compared to only 3.2 MP, resulting in more detailed and better pictures.
Why You Don’t Want the Sony Xperia Tipo…
Basically, the Xperia doesn’t do anything better than the Droid. Sure, it’s a little lighter and smaller, but not by a huge amount, and that doesn’t make up for the fact that it’s a slower and less powerful phone. Plus, it runs an older version of Android’s operating system than the Droid, making it slower and less stable.
When is a Bargain Not a Bargain?
The HTC Droid DNA is a vastly superior phone to the Sony Xperia Tipo. And is money well spent. Yes, it’s a little pricier, but your money is going a long way. A bargain is only a bargain if the thing you buy is actually of good quality. And in our opinion the money you’d save by going for the Xperia just doesn’t make up for the fact that it’s a completely inferior phone to the Droid. So make a wise buying decision, and pay a bit more more for quality.
Phil Turner usually buys cheap phones because his phone use is very limited nowadays.
