BlackBerry And Nokia – 2 Evenly Matched Phones , BlackBerry Curve 9360 V Nokia E5

BlackBerry Curve 9360 V Nokia E5
A number of mobile phone manufacturers have tried to emulate what BlackBerry has achieved with its QWERTY keyboard handsets, but how do they compare? Nokia produced the E5 and at first glance they do appear to be very similar, although the BlackBerry does have a more polished feel to its design and it is also significantly lighter than the Nokia at just 99g.

Operating System
The operating system used by BlackBerry is its own system and this has gained a good reputation in the field of smartphones. Nokia have opted for Symbian on this particular handset which could put a few people off as this does not have the best reputation when it is compared to other systems. However, there is not a great deal wrong with it and most users will get along with it just fine.

Battery
The battery life on the BlackBerry Curve 9360 will give 336 hours of standby time and up to 5 hours of talk time. Most users will find that this is enough but there is more battery life on the Nokia E5. This gives up to 600 hours of standby time and up to 7.5 hours of talk time, which users will find to be a positive point on this handset.

Memory
BlackBerry has provided only 512 MB of memory on this handset but there has been a microSD slot added so that those who want to use the phone to store media such as photos and music can do so. There is less internal memory on the Nokia at just 250 MB but this also has a slot for a microSD card, so this will not worry most users at all.

Camera
The camera on the BlackBerry Curve 9360 has 5 megapixels and a built-in flash as well as the ability to record video footage. This is pretty evenly matched by the Nokia handset which has all the same features. Photo quality is not bad, although viewing on the handset is hard due to the smaller screen, so photos should be uploaded to social networking sites or email in order to view them properly.

Internet Use
Connectivity options on the BlackBerry handset include 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Again, this is matched by the Nokia E5. Browsing the net is fairly easy with both handsets but as there is a QWERTY keyboard on both of them, the screens are small. The aim of both handsets is to make it easier for business users to access and send emails while they are on the go and the phones are fine for this and checking the occasional website, but if the user wants to spend a long time on the internet then a phone with a larger screen might be the best option.

Decision Time
These handsets seem to be quite evenly matched and most users will not find that much of a difference between them when it comes down to actual usage. Design-wise, the BlackBerry would appear to have the edge and as the handset is small and light and fits neatly into the hand, the vast majority of users are likely to be more comfortable with it.
