Whenever there are talks about India’s T20 World Cup win, Joginder Sharma’s contribution and mention will always be unforgettable. The medium pacer bowled the last over of the match and helped India win the historic World T20 final against Pakistan by just five runs.
Now, Joginder Sharma has announced he has retired from all forms of cricket on Friday, February 3, 2023 – 15 years after his heroics in the 2007 T20 World Cup final against Pakistan. He is a former Indian all-rounder who played in four ODI and four T20I matches for the nation.
One of the best bowlers in the tournament, Joginder took a gamble in the final over against Misbah-ul-Haq by bowling him for six. Despite being settled, Misbah miscued the ball to Sreesanth at short fine leg and was bowled by the Indian pacer to seal an incredible win for the team.
He later moved to the IPL franchise and became an integral part of its winning team. He also represented the Haryana Police as a Deputy Superintendent of Police and is currently manning the streets as he fights the Coronavirus pandemic.
