How to Cancel Magazine Subscriptions on an iPhone, iPad or Ipod

Apple’s iOS version 5 operating system brought the ability to subscribe to magazines to the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad line of devices. Instead of waiting patiently for that copy of Entertainment Weekly to arrive in your mailbox, you can instead of the “Newsstand” application instantly download new copies when they’re available. Magazine subscriptions are handled via your iTunes Store account, the same way app and music purchases are organized. You can also use your iTunes Store account to unsubscribe from a particular magazine when the time comes that you no longer want to receive it. It can be really easy to just leave them and end up paying for subscriptions long after you’ve stopped reading them – much like gym memberships! With this quick tutorial you should be able to cancel them in no time!

Step 1
Open your device’s “Settings” application. The first selection of icons in the “Settings” column relates to all of the changes you can make to the basic operation of your iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad. The second section allows you to adjust the way third-party applications operate. Look for the icon labeled “App Store” in the first section of options and tap it one time to continue.

Step 2
Find your Apple ID button at the bottom of the window on screen. The button you’re looking for will begin with the phrase “Apple ID” and will be followed by the e-mail address on file with your iTunes account. Tap this button one time.

Step 3
Tap the option labeled “View Apple ID.” Type your Apple password into the box when prompted and tap “OK” to advance to the next step.

Step 4
Tap on the magazine you want to cancel in the “Subscriptions” portion of the window on screen. If you just want to turn off the auto-renewal of your subscription, select the appropriately labeled option from this section. When your subscription expires your card will not be automatically charged and you will receive no further issues. If you want to immediately cancel your subscription and stop receiving new issues, continue to the next step.

Step 5
Select the “Cancel” option on screen to cancel the subscription to the magazine you have selected. You will immediately stop receiving new issues and you will likely be refunded for the remaining balance on your account for any issues you were due to receive but did not.
And that’s all you need to do to trip down those subscription. Hopefully that will help some of you out!
