Overwatch 2 season 3 is set to be one of the biggest season launches yet, and it will come with a lot of new changes for players. Overwatch’s second season introduced a new map and a bunch of hero updates, and it looks like season 3 is going to continue to push the envelope of content with some hero and game mode balance tweaks.
The game’s signature premium currency is returning to OW2 in Season 3, Blizzard revealed in an update today. Previously known as Legacy Credits, they were removed after the first game’s release but are now making their way back into Overwatch 2.
Players can earn up to 1500 credits as free rewards and another 500 as premium rewards spread throughout the Season 3 Battle Pass. It’s a change that allows players to get items and cosmetics without spending any real money, while also opening up more ways to spend those credits in the future.
In an earlier update, Jared Neuss and Aaron Keller revealed that the omnic tank Ramattra was getting a major buff in season 3. His void barrier has been decreased to reduce its cooldown, and his armor and speed while in Nemesis form have been increased.
He also got some tweaks to his Annihilation, which now ticks down slower if enemies are in it. This should make it less powerful but still able to deal a decent amount of damage and keep him in the running as a strong pick for tanks.
Overwatch’s Reinhardt is one of the most underrated heroes in the game, and this latest buff is sure to improve his playability. He now has a higher health pool and increased armor when in Nemesis, and his slow timer on his ultimate should help him to survive longer against stronger opponents.
The team has also changed the ultimate charge system, allowing players to keep 30% of their charge when switching to a different hero during a match. This will allow them to play more effectively while still using their most devastating ability, and it should make the Sojourn x Mercy duo less overpowered in Season 3.
All of these new changes should bring Overwatch 2 into a whole new world. We can only hope that Season 3 will be full of more hero and game mode updates to keep players interested in the game.
