New FFXIV Online Dawntrail DLC Coming to PS5 and PS4 in Summer 2024

The long-awaited fifth expansion, Dawntrail, has been officially announced by the FFXIV PR team during the Fan Festival 2023 in Las Vegas.

Luke Karmali, a member of the FFXIV PR team, revealed the exciting news during the physical Fan Fest event, which marks the return of in-person gatherings after a pandemic-induced break. Attendees were treated to a first look at the upcoming expansion through a captivating teaser trailer.

In Dawntrail, players will embark on a thrilling adventure in the New World of Tural, a tropical realm never before explored in the game. Joining forces with familiar companions Alphinaud, Alisaie, and Erenville, players will set sail across the Indigo Deep.

The expansion’s central quest involves aiding a visitor from the New World in a critical rite of succession to determine the next ruler, with tantalizing rumors about the legendary gates of a city of gold.

Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida delivered a keynote presentation, offering a glimpse of the plethora of content coming in Dawntrail when it launches in Summer 2024.

Among the highlights are an increased level cap from 90 to 100, numerous new jobs, expansive new areas such as Urqopacha and Yak T’el, and the introduction of new allied tribes, including the enigmatic Pelupelu who reside in Urqopacha and wear distinct masks.

Moreover, the expansion will feature an array of fresh core battle content like FATEs, Hunts, Treasure Hunts, sidequests, and more. Players can expect new dungeons, including the formidable Valigarmanda, and will explore the grand capital city of Tural, known as Tuliyollal.

The Dawntrail expansion also comes with a substantial graphical update, significantly enhancing character and world visuals. With higher-resolution textures, improved shadows, and better materials quality, the game’s aesthetic appeal is set to reach new heights.

In addition to the wealth of content and updates, the Free Trial will be further expanded, allowing newcomers to experience more of the game’s offerings. Starting with Patch 6.5, the third expansion Stormblood, and all content through Patch 4.58 will be included in the Free Trial, allowing players to reach level 70 and try out the Red Mage and Samurai jobs with no playtime restrictions.

The FFXIV Fan Festival 2023-2024 tour will continue in London on October 21, 2023, where more details about Dawntrail and future adventures will be unveiled.
