Techland has pushed back the release of Dying Light: The Beast, a new standalone game in its popular zombie series, from August 22 to September 19, 2025. The delay gives the developers extra time to make the game as polished as possible.
Techland shared in a statement that while Dying Light: The Beast is nearly ready, they need a few more weeks to fine-tune the game. They want to ensure the open-world adventure meets fan expectations for quality, especially after feedback that Dying Light 2 lacked the intense, scary vibe of the original.
The extra time will help improve gameplay, fix bugs, and make the experience smoother on all platforms.
Originally planned as a Dying Light 2 DLC, The Beast grew into a full game with a focus on bringing back the scary, survival-driven feel fans loved in the first Dying Light. The delay shows Techland’s commitment to quality, responding to feedback about Dying Light 2’s launch issues. Fans are excited for Crane’s return and the new open-world setting, though some worry the short delay might not be enough for major fixes.
About Dying Light: The Beast?
The game follows Kyle Crane, the hero from the first Dying Light. After 13 years of captivity and experiments, Crane escapes and seeks revenge in a new rural area called Castor Woods, inspired by the Swiss Alps. The story, lasting 18-20 hours, focuses on survival and vengeance with a darker tone.
Players will use parkour, melee weapons, guns, and new “Beast Mode” powers that let Crane fight like a super-strong zombie. You can drive a 4×4 vehicle, sneak past enemies, and play with up to three friends in co-op mode.
The game features a large, varied map with towns, forests, farms, and swamps, where day-night cycles make zombies more dangerous at night.
