Arduino has unveiled the UNO Q, a new addition to its UNO family of single-board computers designed for hobbyists and developers. This board stands out with a “dual-brain” setup, combining a powerful main processor for full computing tasks and a dedicated microcontroller for quick, real-time responses in projects like sensors or automated devices.
At its core, the UNO Q uses Qualcomm’s Dragonwing QRB2210 microprocessor, which includes four Arm Cortex-A53 CPU cores for handling everyday operations and an Adreno graphics unit for visual tasks.
It pairs with an STMicroelectronics STM32U585 microcontroller featuring one Arm Cortex-M33 core for precise, instant control. The board supports Wi-Fi 5 for wireless connections, Bluetooth 5.4 for short-range links, and USB-C for charging, data transfer, video output, or even camera input.
Dedicated pins allow flexibility, such as freeing the USB-C port for other uses, though microphones always connect via pins.
The initial version comes with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMC storage, enough for running programs and storing files. A higher-end variant with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage will follow shortly.
The UNO Q runs Zephyr OS for the microcontroller side and interfaces with Debian Linux for the main processor, creating a hybrid environment for both simple sketches and complex apps.
Alongside the hardware, Arduino introduced App Lab, a new software tool that works on Windows, Mac, Linux, or directly on the UNO Q.
It combines easy coding sketches, Python scripts, and AI features in one interface, making it simpler to build and test projects without switching programs.
