Motorola has started rolling out the Android 16 update for its 2025 foldable smartphones, including the Razr 2025 and Razr Ultra 2025, in the United States.
The update is currently being pushed through major carriers like Verizon and T-Mobile. However, there is still no sign of the update for the Razr+ 2025, which remains missing from the rollout.
First Major Update Since Launch
Both foldables were announced in April 2025 and originally launched with Android 15. This Android 16 update marks the first major OS upgrade for these devices.
Motorola has promised a total of three Android updates, meaning users can still expect Android 17 and Android 18 in the future. In addition, the phones will receive four years of security updates.
What’s New in the Android 16 Update
The update reportedly comes with a download size of around 4GB and includes several improvements.
Key changes include:
- Updated security patch level (December 2025)
- Minor design changes
- Improved compatibility with Bluetooth LE Audio devices
While the update does not introduce major visual changes, it focuses on stability and performance improvements.
Already Available in Europe
Interestingly, the update has already been rolled out earlier in Europe. The same devices, sold as Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra (available on Amazon.com for $799.99), received Android 16 a few months ago.
This means US users are now catching up with the global rollout.
How to Check for the Update
Motorola is rolling out the update in phases, so it may not be available to all users immediately.
To check manually:
- Open Settings
- Go to About Phone
- Tap on System Updates
- If the update is available, you can download and install it directly.
- Razr+ 2025 Still Missing
One surprising detail is the absence of the Razr+ 2025 from the update rollout. There is currently no official information on when, or if, it will receive Android 16.
This has raised questions among users, especially since it belongs to the same generation of foldable devices.
Conclusion
Motorola has begun delivering Android 16 to its 2025 Razr lineup, bringing important updates and improvements. However, the missing Razr+ 2025 update remains a notable gap.
Users can expect a wider rollout in the coming weeks, but for now, not all models are included.
