WhatsApp has rolled out a new reminder feature letting users set reminders for messages they send or receive. Currently available for beta testers on Android (version 2.25.19.21), this feature helps you remember important tasks, events, or conversations without leaving the app. Here’s how it works and why it’s useful.
How to Use the Reminder Feature

- Select a Message: Long-press any message in a chat, whether you sent it or received it.
- Tap the Bell Icon: A menu will appear at the top of the screen with a bell icon. Tap it to set a reminder.
- Choose a Time: A box will pop up with preset options (2 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours) or a “Custom” option to pick a specific date and time.
- Confirm the Reminder: Once set, a small bell icon will appear next to the message’s timestamp. You’ll get a notification at the chosen time.
- Manage Reminders: You can set multiple reminders in the same chat or different chats. To remove a reminder, long-press the message again and tap the bell icon.
Only the person who sets the reminder gets notified, keeping it private and simple.
This feature makes it easy to stay organized without needing another app. You can:
- Remember Events: Set a reminder for an event invite, like a party or meeting, sent via WhatsApp.
- Track Tasks: Use it for personal notes, like a reminder to call someone or check a link later.
- Stay on Top of Chats: If you message yourself, you can set reminders for to-do lists, shopping lists, or appointments.
Unlike Telegram’s message scheduler, which sends messages at a set time, WhatsApp’s feature reminds you about existing messages, such as an appointment or a topic to revisit. It’s perfect for busy people who want to keep track of important details in their chats.
Availability
The reminder feature is currently for WhatsApp beta users on Android, available through the Google Play Beta Program. It’s expected to roll out to all users on Android, iOS, and other platforms in the coming weeks.
The WhatsApp reminder feature is a simple way to stay organized, ensuring you never forget important tasks or events right from your chats.
