How to Make Your Blog as SEO Effective as Possible for your Website

A recent study by Econsultancy found that 62% of businesses don’t have a content marketing plan in place. However 90% of the 1,300 digital marketing professional questioned did acknowledge that content marketing will become more important over the next year. So as a business, how can you tap into content marketing?

One easy and effective way is by keeping a brand blog which will allow your name and product to reach a wider audience as well as generate new and original content to help your search engine rankings.

Here’s how to make your business blog as useful as possible:

  • If you’re going to start a business blog, it needs to be regularly updated to be most effective. Try and upload a new post at least once a week to give your blog authority and routine. Try and pick subjects related to your industry so that relevant key words appear in the text and naturally increase your search engine rankings.
  • Don’t be afraid to go in depth. Try and pick particular themes, subjects or angles to make each blog that much more niche to allow you more choice of topics for future blogs. This should limit you running out of ideas and blog use tailing off.
  • Try and pick topics that are currently in the news or in the public conscious at the moment. This will make them more likely to be picked up by people searching for that subject and coming across your website as well as being picked up by search engines. A great tool for finding out what’s relevant is by typing your product or industry into a search engine’s news tab and finding the most recent news stories.
  • You can afford to make your tone slightly more casual in a blog but it should still be quality content. While you can be a bit chattier, you still need to remain authoritative so people have faith in your knowledge of the industry and what you have to offer. It is important that readers trust that you know what you’re talking about. Perhaps look for surveys and statistics that relate to what you’re trying to say and to give your blog more authority.

Blogs are a fantastic form of content marketing as well as a way to drive traffic to your site and drive sales and interest in what you have to offer. You could attract subscribers that will check your blog regularly to look for your latest post relating to the industry and the brand’s take of the latest events. A blog will make your company seem far more approachable and help develop the voice of the brand.
