To become a furniture designer, one should look at a degree that focuses on visual arts or mathematics and could also consider a fine arts or engineering approach. More technical majors for becoming a furniture designer are graphic design or computer programming.

To get a job as a furniture designer, one needs to have a comprehensive portfolio of all of their work. Your portfolio should consist of all the great work and ideas you have done over the years. This is incredibly important as this will be shown to possible employers and clients.
