TCL will no longer manufacture or sell BlackBerry branded smartphones. The BlackBerry on its official press note announced that they are finally ending their partnership with TCL which was responsible for manufacturing and selling BlackBerry branded phones until now. TCL announced that as of August 31, 2020, it will end selling BlackBerry-branded smartphones in the market.
The company in a press note said that TCL will no longer have the rights to the design, manufacture or sell any new BlackBerry smartphones. However, TCL will continue to provide support for the existing BlackBerry phones. This will include continuing customer service and the warranty services until August 31, 2020.
TCL and BlackBerry currently have a number of devices in its portfolio including the BlackBerry KEYone, BlackBerry Motion, Key2 and Key2 LE.
The announcement, however, did not reveal any further plans from BlackBerry. So, we really don’t know yet how BlackBerry will now move forward.
