Sony Officially Announces the New PlayStation 5 Wireless Controller “DualSense”

After a week of silence, Sony Interactive Entertainment decided to give new details about the PlayStation 5. This time the company decided to announce DualSense, the wireless controller that will accompany you in your adventures on the next generation of PS5 consoles.

According to Sony, the DualShock 4 was a controller that was well received by gamers and developers. This is why they decided to retain various details of the controller of the PlayStation 4, but refining the design and adding new features.

“DualSense marks a radical departure from our previous controller offerings and captures just how strongly we feel about making a generational leap with PS5,” said Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. “The new controller, along with the many innovative features in PS5, will be transformative for games – continuing our mission at PlayStation to push the boundaries of play, now and in the future.”

We already know what the DualSense looks like; however, what does it offer? As revealed by Sony, among the novelties of the DualSense are innovations that Sony made in the field of touch. That is, it has haptic feedback with which they seek to deliver a “variety of powerful sensations” when playing. They also incorporated triggers that allow you to feel the tension in actions such as shooting an arrow.

An interesting detail of the DualSense is that it has a built-in microphone. With this, Sony wants players to be able to chat with their friends without the need for a headset. Of course, the company recommends that this is only used for short messages and that a traditional microphone is used for long conversations.

Another striking point is that the Capture button (yes, the one that was used to capture photos and videos) was removed and replaced by a new one called “Create”. With it you can capture the content you play on your console and share it with the whole world through different channels.

It is also striking that the light bar of the DualShock 4 was modified. This part of the controller now appears on the front of the controller on the sides of the touchpad.

It should be noted that Sony highlighted that its controllers traditionally had a single color. That said, now they decided to go for a remote with 2 different tones. At the moment it is unknown if there will be models of the DualSense that are of a single color.
