Samsung Health Monitor App Electrocardiogram (ECG) Function Cleared by MFDS

Samsung’s Health Monitor app recently received South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) clearance for blood pressure (BP) measurement function. Now, the Electrocardiogram (ECG) function of the Samsung Health Monitor app for the Galaxy Watch Active 2 has been cleared by South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS).

With the new Electrocardiogram (ECG) function on the Samsung Health Monitor app. Galaxy Watch Active 2 users will now be able to measure and analyze their heart rhythm for irregularities indicating Atrial Fibrillation (AFib).

The ECG function works using the ECG sensor given on the Galaxy Watch Active2 and analyzes the heart’s electrical activity. You can use the ECG feature by simply opening-up the Samsung Health Monitor app when you are seated comfortably.

Now, ensure that the watch is fitted firmly to your wrist and rest your forearm on a flat surface. Then lightly place a fingertip from the opposite hand on the top button on the Galaxy Watch Active 2 for 30 seconds.

This will help you track and measure your heart rate and rhythm as either a Sinus Rhythm (a normal, regular heartbeat) or AFib (when the heart beats irregularly).

After measuring your heart Rhythm using the ECG function, you can use its data to show to your doctor that will help him make more informed decisions for your health.

Samsung Health Monitor App Availability

The new Samsung Health Monitor app will be available on the Galaxy Watch Active 2 within the third quarter of 2020 and then will come to the upcoming Galaxy Watch devices in the future.
