Samsung Launches Blood Pressure Monitoring App for Galaxy Watch Devices

Samsung Malaysia today announced the launch of its new Blood Pressure Monitoring app called ”Samsung Health Monitor App” for Galaxy Watch Devices. Samsung also noted that the Samsung Health Monitor app has just been cleared by South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), as a Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). Notably, Samsung launched its Health Monitor app globally last month.

Notably, the new Samsung Health Monitor app when paired with the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will enable its user to easily and more conveniently measure and track their blood pressure on the go. Samsung says that the new Health Monitor app for Galaxy Watch devices will help its users measure and track their blood pressure with greater insight into their health.

“The Samsung Health Monitor app has the potential to help millions of people around the world who are affected by high blood pressure,” says Taejong Jay Yang, Corporate SVP and Head of Health Team, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. “This is one of many examples of how Samsung is integrating its best-in-class hardware with the latest software innovations to innovate mobile experiences.”

Notably, the device measures blood pressure through pulse wave analysis, which is tracked with the Heart Rate Monitoring sensors. It’s worth noting here that, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 comes with more sensitive and accurate Heart Rate Monitoring sensors. The watch enables users to track their exercise, sleep, stress, and other healthcare insights that help in improving their overall health.

The program determines the blood pressure analyzing the relationship between the calibration value and the blood pressure change. Do note that, to ensure accuracy, users will require to calibrate their devices at least every four weeks.

Samsung Health Monitor App Availability

The new Samsung Health Monitor app will be available on the Galaxy Watch Active 2 within the third quarter of 2020 and then will come to the upcoming Galaxy Watch devices in the future.
