Qualcomm today announced its latest fast charging tech Quick Charge 5 that comes with more than 100W charging support and can also charge a phone’s battery from 0 to 50% in 5 minutes and 100% in less than 15 minutes. The Quick Charge 5 is also said to be 70% more power-efficient than the Quick Charge 4 and will provide 10-degree Celsius cooler experience.
The Quick Charge 5 also comes with the Battery Saver feature, 2S battery support and Smart Identification of Adapter Capabilities that will help extend the battery life cycle of a device. Quick Charge 5 also features dual charge technology that works with adaptive input voltage and protects the battery while offering faster charging.
Quick Charge 5 is currently in its testing phase and will initially be supported on devices with Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 865+, and next-generation premium and high-tier Snapdragon mobile chipsets. Also, Quick Charge 5 is compatible with both wired and wireless charging technologies.
Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 is expected to appear in commercial devices in Q3 2020.
