As Microsoft’s Phil Spencer promised, he will be happy to share more Xbox Series X details next month. However, he did not reveal what the head of Microsoft’s gaming division was referring to in detail.
As part of the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft announced new games last month that are currently in the works for the Xbox Series X. These include a new Forza Motorsport, the survival adventure State of Decay 3 or the role-playing game Fable 4, which is currently being developed by the second team of Forza Horizon makers from Playground Games.
As Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft’s gaming division promised in a short statement, details and announcements for the Xbox Series X will continue as early as next month.
“I am encouraged to be able to talk more about [Microsoft’s Xbox plans]… should be August. I think August we’ll have more to say,” Spencer announced without going into more detail. It remains to be seen what he referred to in detail. It is speculated that the official unveiling of the Xbox Series S or the Lockhart model of the Xbox Series X is expected next month.
Even if Microsoft did not want to comment on Lockhart so far, in the past few weeks the references to the second model of the Xbox Series X have increased and in principle left no doubt about the existence of the console. Lockhart is likely to be a cheaper model of Xbox Series X with weaker hardware and aimed at 1080p or 1440p display.
Microsoft may finally reveal all the details in August by announcing the release date and price of the Xbox Series X. Let’s wait and see.
