After being shown last September 16 at the PlayStation 5 Showcase, in the past few hours interesting details have emerged regarding the brand new title of Final Fantasy XVI by Square Enix.

According to what was reported on the well-known video game forum ResetEra, and confirmed by the well-known industry journalist Jason Schreier in the latest podcast of Triple Click, the new chapter of the famous series of the Japanese giant, Final Fantasy XVI, would be in development “for at least four years in some capacity.”

Therefore, it would seem that unlike previous projects of Square Enix, announced too soon before seeing the light on consoles, it will arrive “sooner than people think.” The hefty clip shown at the PS5 event literally surprised fans, as the latter not only featured the title for the first time but showed in-game battles and scenes in real-time, representing only a fraction of what Creative Business Unit III managed to get from the new Final Fantasy.

Also, according to the recent words of the director of the game, Hiroshi Takai, the team faced countless challenges, from adapting to a new development of the environment to the undiscovered mechanics of PlayStation 5.

We just now have to wait for more details on the new Final Fantasy XVI, which according to the company will be released only in 2021 on PlayStation 5.
