More details have arrived on Hogwarts Legacy, revealing more of what to expect in the coming year. Among other things, the story and influence of JK Rowling are discussed.
Warner Bros. and Avalanche have published information on Hogwarts Legacy as part of an FAQ, including some details that have not yet been addressed. For example, the game offers a kind of moral system. It was also summarized again what awaits you with this RPG.
Accordingly, Hogwarts Legacy is an open single-player action role-playing game that takes place in the magical world of the 19th century. As the story progresses, you will experience life as a student at Hogwarts Magic School as you embark on a dangerous journey to uncover a hidden truth within the wizarding world. You will develop your magical skills by mastering spells, brewing potions and taming fantastic beasts.
“Hogwarts Legacy is filled with immersive magic, putting players at the center of their adventure to become the witch or wizard they choose to be. They will grow their character’s abilities as they master powerful spells, hone combat skills and select companions to help them face off against deadly enemies. Players will also encounter missions and scenarios that will challenge their morality and determine what they stand for,” said the creators.
In addition, it was questioned how Hogwarts Legacy fits into the world of Harry Potter: “In the Harry Potter series, a Portkey is an object, enchanted to instantly transport anyone touching it to a specific location. Most of the time, a Portkey is an everyday object that would not draw the attention of a Muggle. For Portkey Games, it symbolizes how games under this label will transport fans to their own adventures inspired by the Wizarding World.”

- Warner Bros. Games releases Hogwarts Legacy under the label of Portkey Games. The game is developed by Avalanche.
- JK Rowling is not directly involved in the development of the game, but her writing style is the foundation of all projects in the wizarding world. It’s not a new story from JK Rowling.
- Players can choose their Hogwarts home at the start of Hogwarts Legacy. Further details will be announced at a later date.
- Harry Potter, Hermione Granger or Ron Weasley will not appear: Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the 1800s, before the time period of JK Rowling’s original stories.
- Hogwarts Legacy takes players beyond Hogwarts to new and familiar locations such as the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village.
Hogwarts Legacy is being developed for PS5, PS4, Xbox One (X/S), Xbox Series X/S and PC. The launch is scheduled for next year.
