Rumors are currently again circulating about a possible 4K model of the Nintendo Switch Pro. As the industry magazine Bloomberg reports, the new model is to be announced this year.
In the past few months, the rumor has persisted that Nintendo is working behind the scenes on another model of the Switch Pro. Among other things, this is to be provided with 4K support and placed on the market in response to the new generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
A current report from Bloomberg, which says that the 4K model of the Nintendo Switch Pro will be officially announced later this year, provides fresh speculation. This is reported with reference to sources close to the project.
In addition to 4K support in docked mode, according to Bloomberg, a seven-inch OLED display is one of the biggest innovations in the upcoming switch model. From June 2021, Samsung is expected to produce around one million displays of this type per month. As it is also said, the new display should deliver greater contrast and at the same time a faster response time.
“The OLED panel will consume less battery, offer higher contrast, and possibly faster response time when compared to the Switch’s current liquid-crystal display,” added Yoshio Tamura, co-founder of the display consultancy DSCC.
Even if the indications of a possible 4K model of the Switch seem to be condensing, the rumors should first be enjoyed with the necessary caution. So far, neither Samsung nor Nintendo wanted to comment on the current report from Bloomberg.
