XFX Launches Liquid-Cooled Radeon RX 6900 XT ZERO WB Graphics Card

AMD’s Radeon RX 6900 XT already performs well, ranking among the top graphics cards (which are still hard to come by). This is due to AMD’s rDNA 2 architecture’s outstanding rates, and XFX has teamed up with EK Water Blocks to create the XFX Radeon RX 6900 XT Zero WB graphics card, which promises to overclock up to 3.0 GHz.

The XFX Navi 21 XTXH GPU is connected to a bespoke PCB, then paired with a custom water block. The card comes with a base clock of 2200 MHz and a boost frequency of 2525 MHz, which is a 12 percent improvement over the reference card’s 2250 MHz boost frequency. According to XFX, the card can overclock to above 3000 MHz. However, the information is ambiguous and doesn’t indicate whether this is sustained or peak frequency.

All more clock speed necessitates extra power, which is why the XFX Radeon RX 6900 XT Zero WB has three 8-pin connections. The reference card has a TGP of 300 watts, but the Zero WB requires 350 watts, and that’s before you get beyond the factory clocks. When combined with the PCIe slot, the triple PEG connections may supply up to 525W of power, which can only be adequately handled with extreme cooling systems.

On the Zero WB graphics card, XFX collaborated with Slovenian cooling expert EK Water Blocks. The coolant glows thanks to a nickel-plated copper cold plate, transparent acrylic, and RGB lights. It also has a laser-engraved X logo on it. However, it’s also not an all-in-one liquid cooler like the Asus ROG Strix LC, MSI Seahawk, or EVGA Hybrid cards. Instead, you’ll need your unique liquid loop. Thus the actual cooling capacity is highly dependent on the arrangement.

XFX has yet to release pricing or availability information for the card, but we expect limited quantities and high costs. ACCORDING TO OUR GPU PRICING INDEX, the RX 6900 XT presently has an average eBay price of $1,620, but that’s for any card, and just 64 were sold in two weeks. Custom liquid cooling cards, for example, may easily cost $2,000 or more.
