Earlier this month several Windows 11 users with an AMD Ryzen processor got into some performance issue on their PC. Several users with an AMD Ryzen processor found a performance drop on their PC after upgrading to Windows 11 build 22000.194.
Later it was found that there were two performance issues with Windows 11, one with L3 cache latency and the “Preferred Cores” mechanism on the AMD Ryzen SoC. The issue reduced the Ryzen processor performance on Windows 11 by up to 15%.
After this, both Microsoft and AMD took the issue into consideration and confirmed a fix through a future software update.
Now, both Microsoft and AMD have finally released the latest version of software updates. The latest updates are said to bring a confirmed fix for the low-performance with L3 cache latency and the “Preferred Cores” mechanism issue with an AMD Ryze processor on Windows 11.
Microsoft has released the latest Windows 11 KB5006746 preview build that updates Windows 11 to “build 22000.282.”. The latest Windows 11 KB5006746 update according to its patch notes addresses the L3 caching issue that might affect performance in some applications on devices that have AMD Ryzen processors after upgrading to Windows 11.
Apart from this, the Windows 11 KB5006746 preview build also includes tons of other fixes as well which you can find in the complete changelogs below.
AMD has also released the latest AMD Chipset Driver 3.10.08.506 update that addresses the UEFI CPPC2 (“preferred core”) may not preferentially schedule threads on a processor’s fastest core issue.
