The Steam Deck is a new hybrid video game console that will start shipping in a few weeks. Today, Valve released CAD files for the Steam Deck outer shell. The CAD files are open-source and are available on GitLab under a Creative Commons license.
You can download them and modify them to your liking. Because the Steam DLC is not ready yet, you’ll need to use a 3D printer to print the prototype.
The new Steam Deck is set to release on February 25. To mark the occasion, Valve has released CAD files for the external shell of the console. They’ve done this as a way to let users modify the design and build it however they see fit.
They’ve also confirmed that SteamOS Linux will support the Steam Deck. These CAD files are freely available to anyone, meaning you can print a version that suits your needs and your preferences.
The CAD files are free to download under a Creative Commons license. This means you can edit the files to create a custom Steam Deck. You can even modify the case yourself, and make your own modifications.
The SteamD CAD files can be used to customize the appearance of the device, but there are restrictions. It’s not yet known if Valve will support the new hardware on Linux.
