WhatsApp UWP Beta is Getting Message Reactions and Archived Chats Feature on Windows 11

If you’ve been following the development of the messaging app WhatsApp, you’ve probably noticed that it has received a few updates recently. Recent updates include the addition of emoji shortcuts and dark mode for WhatsApp UWP.

Now, the Facebook is preparing for a new WhatsApp UWP update 2.2208.1 to its official beta channel for Windows client. This new update includes the addition of a new feature: Message Reactions. This feature is still in the testing stage, but will soon be available to everyone.

The archived chats feature is a new addition to the WhatsApp UWP beta and its now available to both Windows 11 and Windows 10 desktop client, which is aimed at improving reliability. The app also has new icons for chat options.

Users can view pictures, videos, and chats from the past – no need to open up each chat again. The beta version of the app is still in its testing phase, so unarchiving a chat does not refresh the chat list immediately.

In addition to this, users can now mute videos before sending them. When they forward a video, the app will display a speakerphone icon. By tapping this icon, you can mute the audio in the video and make it easier to view later. While this feature is only being tested for Android users, it’s expected to appear for all platforms at some point. There are many other new features coming soon to WhatsApp.

Besides the new features, the new ‘View Once‘ photos and videos function is now also available for both Windows and Android users, which allows users to view media files only once.

WhatsApp has also fixed the issue whereby the chat button does not show up. In addition, it’s testing a pop-up menu when you select a phone number. During this process, you can choose to dial the phone number or add it to your contacts.
