Telenet Shooting Collection Launches for Nintendo Switch on June 8 in Japan

The Telenet Shooting Collection is a collection of four classic shoot ’em up games. It was released on the Sega Mega Drive and PC Engine in Japan and will soon make its way to the Nintendo Switch on June 8, 2023. The game on Switch will be available for 7,480 yen. There is also a special edition of the Telenet Shooting Collection that is available for 16,280 yen from Amazon Japan.

There are no major new additions to the compilation, but the visual mode, sound mode and rewind feature of the originals have been included. A rewind feature allows the player to play the game at a different time to their previous score.

Telenet Japan is a Japanese developer and publisher. They produced a lot of games for the Sega Mega Drive and Sharp X68000. While they were well-known for their conventional gameplay, they also produced several games that were more akin to the ’90s shmups that they’re known for.

The main goal of the Telenet Shooting Collection is to provide a convenient way to own these games at an affordable price. This isn’t the first time the company has been involved in a shoot ’em up compilation. However, it’s the first to be marketed through Edia, a Japanese company specializing in digital distribution.

Edia has announced a crowdfunding campaign on the Japanese site Makuake to help fund development. They’re looking for three million yen in funding to launch the aforementioned Telenet Shooting Collection and other projects.

The most exciting part about the project is that the titles featured will be available in non-imported physical versions of the 16-bit ilk. Hopefully, more will be added in the future.
