Nvidia has officially launched its latest RTX 4070 graphics card which is the latest addition to the company’s Ada Lovelace architecture and is based on the 4nm node of TSMC. It consists of 5,888 CUDA cores, 184 texture units and 64 ROP Units.
This GPU comes with a massive 36 MB of L2 cache which is designed to reduce memory access latency and improve performance. It also supports DLSS 3 frame generation which is designed to boost the performance of games by upscaling high-resolution graphics in real time.
It also comes with a 192-bit memory bus, which helps in providing better speed and performance when rendering in games. It has 12GB of GDDR6X memory, which is also faster than GDDR5.
Nvidia’s new RTX 4070 graphics cards come with a much smaller footprint than their predecessors and this has an impact on the GPU’s overall performance. As such, it can run at a lower clock rate and consume less power than their predecessors.
Compared to its predecessor, the RTX 4070 includes 46 ray tracing units which are responsible for improving a game’s visuals by adding more realistic lighting and shadows. It also features 184 Tensor Cores which are dedicated hardware units that accelerate AI-based computations.
Nvidia’s RTX cards also support AV1 hardware encoding which is a next-generation video codec that offers better compression efficiency and improved quality. It can be used to stream video at a higher resolution than previous codecs, and it can also be decoded for improved playback on the GPU.
The new Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card will be available for purchase from April 13th, with the price starting at $599.
The new RTX 4070 card will be available with Nvidia’s in-house Founders Edition design from select retailers, as well as from top add-in cards providers such as ASUS, Colorful, Gainward, GALAX, GIGABYTE, INNO3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY and ZOTAC.
