New Smaller PS5 Model Set to Launch this Holiday Season

With the holiday season right around the corner, PlayStation fans have reason to celebrate as a brand new PS5 model is set to make its debut. Designed to cater to the ever-evolving needs of players, Sony’s engineering and design teams have joined forces to create a sleeker and more compact form factor, all while retaining the incredible technology that has made the PS5 the ultimate gaming console. The remarkable transformation includes a reduction in volume by over 30% and a significant reduction in weight by 18% and 24% when compared to previous models. This new iteration of the PS5 boasts four separate cover panels, with the top portion gleaming with a glossy finish, while the bottom remains matte.

For those opting for the PS5 Digital Edition, the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 can be purchased separately for $79.99 USD, €119.99, £99.99, or 11,980 JPY.

The new PS5 model will be available in the U.S. starting this November at select local retailers and on direct.playstation.com, where applicable. It will continue to roll out worldwide over the following months. Once the current PS5 model’s inventory has been depleted, the new PS5 will become the sole available option.
