Noctua has unveiled a new addition to its chromax.black lineup with the launch of the NH-D12L chromax.black CPU cooler. Announced in Vienna on March 19th, 2024, this all-black version of the low-height 120mm CPU cooler NH-D12L retains the acclaimed quiet cooling performance of the original model while offering a sleek, stealthy aesthetic. The cooler is designed to fit perfectly into compact, high-performance builds, such as those housed in the Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the DAN C4-SFX cases, according to Noctua CEO Roland Mossig.
The NH-D12L chromax.black distinguishes itself from its predecessor primarily through its color. The entire cooler, including the heatsink, fan, anti-vibration pads, fan clips, and mounting parts, features a black coating.
Despite the color change, the chromax.black version promises the same quiet cooling efficiency as the original NH-D12L, thanks to meticulous optimization of the coating material and process.
With a height of just 145mm—13mm shorter than Noctua’s standard 120mm models—the NH-D12L chromax.black can fit into many 4U enclosures and narrower tower cases previously limited to 92mm fan solutions. Its five heatpipe dual-tower design and the cutting-edge NF-A12x25r 120mm fan deliver efficiency surpassing many full-height 120mm models.
Additionally, the cooler’s single-fan configuration and asymmetrical fin stacks ensure 100% RAM compatibility on AMD AM5/AM4 and Intel LGA1851/1700/1200 platforms by avoiding the memory slots.
Noctua has also equipped the NH-D12L chromax.black with the renowned SecuFirm2™ mounting system, the award-winning NT-H1 thermal compound, and a 6-year manufacturer’s warranty, making it an ideal choice for demanding cooling tasks in space-constrained builds.
The NH-D12L chromax.black is priced at EUR 109.90 / USD 99.90 and is available for purchase as of today via Noctua’s official Amazon stores. This launch marks a significant addition to Noctua’s chromax.black series, catering to enthusiasts seeking high-performance cooling solutions with a unified, elegant aesthetic.
