A new indie game called Project Shadowglass is turning heads with its fresh take on classic stealth adventures. Developer Starhelm LLC showed off recent footage at the New Game+ Showcase 2026, confirming a playable demo for later this year and a full release in about 2-3 years.

The game is a “love letter” to old favourites like Thief, Deus Ex, and System Shock. Players take on the role of a struggling thief in a dark fantasy world, pulling off impossible heists in shadowy kingdoms.

You sneak through guarded places, using light and sound to stay hidden. Study patrol routes, watch your steps, and douse torches to create darkness. Make distractions or use the environment to your advantage.

Gameplay shines with smart choices: Pick locks, steal keys, climb to high spots, knock out guards and hide bodies, or fight with blades if things go wrong. Build a reputation – get caught and security ramps up; kill someone and citizens run away on sight.

If guards grab you alive, break out of jail. Guards are tough, with tricky security systems to beat. One wrong step from a height means instant death. Enemies even grab torches if they think something hides in the dark.

What makes it stand out is the “unique” rendering tech. It blends nostalgic pixel art with full 3D space, creating a retro look that feels alive. Early trailers show smooth shadows, sound reflections, and archery mechanics.

Solo developer Dominick John (Space Bard) is behind it, building on the Godot engine for PC and all consoles. A demo comes in 2026, with the game hoping for 2028-2029.
