Applications Add Functionality

Applications Are Functionally Broad
Applications are available for many different purposes.

  • There are games, such as the famous Angry Birds, Tetris, Chess, and so on.
  • There are business functions, such as Documents To Go, which provides you with the opportunity to utilize Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint on your handheld device.
  • There are travel applications that facilitate smooth passage on the roads, rail networks, and buses. These provide information on delays, times, and so on.
  • There are organizer applications that provide calendars, appointment reminders, and can synchronize with other information in your handheld device.

Indeed, there are, on Android, over 700,000 applications that can do just about anything. These applications make your phone into your personal assistant, your banker, your entertainment system, and your life coach.

Which Operating System Is Best For Applications?
When looking at applications on different operating systems, you have to enter the store provided on the platform. Some applications are free and some you have to pay for. Many have a LITE version that offers a trial of an application with limited functionality to entice users to buy the full download.

At the moment, Android leads away with more applications and with more free applications. The iPhone also has several hundred thousand to choose from. Windows is still developing and will likely soon have a lot more. Blackberry’s operating system is still catching up with the other players in the industry and the applications on the device will no doubt increase in the future.
Overall, I would say that Android is by far the best platform for applications. There are far more.

Applications Are Here To Stay
Applications are developed for so many different purposes that the diversity of offerings is phenomenal. You can use an app to book a restaurant, or calculate the next leap year. Some applications are almost essentials these days, for example, the Facebook application. These apps provide amazing monetization opportunities for the developers and for companies looking to tap into the mobile market. It is exciting how far applications have come so far and how much there is yet to come.
