OnePlus started the first Android 9 Pie beta test for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T in China last week. On a later date last month, OnePlus rolled out the first public beta build of Android 9 Pie based on OxygenOS 9.0 for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T in China. OnePlus has been testing new features on its devices by releasing beta updates before rolling out a stable version. Now OnePlus via its forum post has announced the release of Second Android 9 Pie Community Beta Update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T device.
It’s worth noting here that the Community Beta Update is not the same as the Open Betas that OnePlus pushes to its smartphones to test the latest features before stable roll out. However, the latest Community Beta Update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T mainly focusses on bug fixes and do not bring any other changes to the device.

If you are already running the stable OxygenOS build on your OnePlus 3 or a OnePlus 3T device and wish to try out the Android Pie update then you can simply download the firmware package from the forum post here and can install it in the root directory of your phone’s storage.
You can also try installing the update by rebooting your device in the Fastboot mode by holding down Volume Up and Power buttons together, use the volume buttons to enter Recovery mode and choose “Install from Internal Storage” to flash the update.
