Days Gone Free DLC Content Out Today With New Survival Difficulty Mode and No Fast Travel

Two days before the official launch of PS4 exclusive Days Gone in April, Sony announced that the free post-launch DLC content will be heading to the game in June and will bring a new Survival difficulty mode that will increase the game difficulty and won’t include Fast Travel or Survival Vision in the game. Today, Sony finally announced that the free Days Gone DLC starting with the Survival difficulty mode is finally available for players on PS4 starting today. This will bring the fourth difficulty mode to the game that already includes Easy, Normal, or Hard mode.

Survival Difficulty Mode

According to the official PlayStation blog post, the free Days Gone post-launch DLC content with Survival difficulty mode is now available for players as a fourth difficulty modes. Notably, players with the new Survival difficulty mode won’t be able to see the map and indicators from the gameplay screen to make the gameplay even more challenging.

The new Survival difficulty mode also removes the fast travel to make sure players can’t bypass the freekers or the current challenge using Fast Travel. This will bring more tension for players as well as a more challenging experience for players to survive in the Central Oregon wilderness.

The HUD

The Survival difficulty mode also features an immersive HUD that increases tension by removing enemy awareness indicators and outlines. The HUD is turned off, but players can temporarily display it by activating Survival Vision.

In addition, players who will compete playing the game with Survival difficulty mode will be rewarded with new bike skins and trophies.

As part of the free post-launch DLC content, the game will also receive Weekly Challenges that will bring a new combat, bike, or horde challenge drops with unique rules and scoring modifiers with every challenge drops each week.

Wearable Patches

Players will also get wearable patches that come with perks for playing the challenges. These patches will help players in the gameplay and will provide increased health, faster stamina recharging, decreased focus cost, greater melee weapon durability, better gun accuracy from the bike, and more.

New Outfits

With the new challenges every week, players will also be able to change Deacon’s outfit by choosing between three looks: apocalypse Deacon, flashback Deacon, and for the ultimate in fan service, shirtless Deacon.

According to the blog post, the first gameplay challenge called “Surrounded will drop in late June. There will be a total of twelve challenges that will drop every week for 12 weeks.
