AMD Unveiled Radeon RX 5500 Series GPUs Aimed at Gaming Desktop PCs and Laptops

AMD today unveiled Radeon RX 5500 Series GPUs including the Radeon RX 5500 XT and the Radeon RX 5500 aimed at desktop PCs and the Radeon RX 5500M aimed at notebooks and laptops. The newly announced GPUs will bring AMD’s high-end RDNA architecture, codenamed Navi technology to lower-end 1080p desktop PC and laptops. The new AMD Radeon RX 5500 and Radeon RX 5500M ‘Navi’ GPUs for lower-end desktop PCs and laptops will be available from leading manufacturers such as Acer, HP, Lenovo, and MSI starting this November to December 2019.

AMD also announced that players will have their choice of getting a free copy of Borderlands 3 or Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint with the purchase of eligible Radeon RX 5500 series. Based on AMD’s RDNA gaming architecture and industry-leading 7nm process technology. The new Radeon RX 5500 and Radeon RX 5500M GPUs are said to deliver the ultimate in high-performance, high-fidelity 1080p gaming.

The new Radeon RX 5500 graphics card is said to provide up to 37 percent faster performance on average than any other competitive product in select titles at 1080p. On the other hand,  the Radeon RX 5500M GPU is said to provide up to 30 percent faster performance with up to 60+ FPS in select AAA titles and up to 90+ FPS in select eSports games4.

The new Radeon RX 5500 series GPUs are also claimed to provide 1.6X higher gaming performance-per-watt than current Radeon graphics cards. To bring the best and lag-free gaming experience on both desktop PCs and laptops. The new Radeon RX 5500 series GPUs brings some powerful features to these devices listed below.

  • Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS)
  • AMD FidelityFX
  • Radeon Anti-Lag

Radeon RX 5500 Series GPUs Availability

The new Radeon RX 5500 Series GPUs are said to be available in PCs and Laptops from leading manufacturers like Acer, HP, Lenovo, and MSI. MSI is expected to launch the MSI Alpha 15 laptop by the end of this month and it will be powered by the Radeon RX 5500M GPU. The Radeon RX 5500 graphics cards o the other hand, are expected to be available in HP’s OMEN Obelisk and Pavilion Gaming desktops, as well as Lenovo Legion T530 and IdeaCentre T540 Gaming PCs starting this November.

The RX 5500 graphics cards are also expected to be available in the upcoming Acer Nitro 50 PCs beginning in December 2019.
