PS5 & Xbox Series X CPU Will be the “Biggest Next-Gen Difference”, Scorn Developer Says

After the official specifications for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X were released. Much of the attention has focused on what will happen to the solid-state drives, which promise to fix many of the charging issues and make the developers’ job easier.  However, although little has been said about the processors of both consoles. There are those who bet on these as the true defining factor for the next generation.

During an interview with the website MS Power User, Ljubomir Peklar, director of Scorn, immersive horror title presented for Xbox Series X and PC, spoke about 2 essential elements of the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft and tipped his bet on the processor of both platforms. In that sense, Peklar considered that while SSDs will be a notable advance for the gaming experience. The real surprise that will define the next generation of consoles lies in its CPU.

In this regard, the creative stated: “Everyone is touting the SSD as the next big thing, and yes SSDs will help a lot with loading and moving assets. But the biggest culprit that is creating problems in the current generation is the CPU. That’s where the biggest next-gen difference compared to the current generation will come from.”

Scorn, a title by Ebb Software, was announced in 2014 for PC and it generated a lot of expectations. The players were delighted with its concept and its aesthetics inspired by the renowned work of Hans Ruedi Giger.

After a long absence, the first-person horror game reappeared with a spectacular trailer on Inside Xbox last week. Ebb Software confirmed that it has closed a deal with Microsoft, so Scorn will be an exclusive title for Xbox Series X. At the same time, its PC version is still in development.
