CD Projekt Red has announced that it’s upcoming most anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 night city video game will be Backwards Compatible with both next-gen consoles, including PS5 and Xbox Series. Now, what’s this actually means? this means that you will be able to play your purchased PS4 copy of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 at launch.
On the other hand, if you buy a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox One then you will also be able to play an optimized version of the game on the Xbox Series X when it launches later this year. This means, that both the PS4 or Xbox One version of the Cyberpunk 2077 will be Backwards Compatible with next-gen consoles without needing you to purchase the game again for the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Also, note that CD Projekt has confirmed that Backwards Compatibility will be applied to both physical and digital copies of the game. This means that whether you buy a physical version or a digital version of Cyberpunk 2077, you will be able to play both versions on the next-gen consoles.
Also, an update that will be available later for Cyberpunk 2077 taking full advantage of the next-gen hardware, will be available for free on the next-gen consoles.

Notably, in order to play a non Backwards Compatible game that you already own on your PS4 or Xbox One. You will need to purchase that game again in order to play it on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Cyberpunk 2077 was previously scheduled to launch on August 25, but now, the game has been delayed to November 19, 2020.
