Apple & Google Removed Fortnite App from the App Store, Epic Responded With Lawsuit Against Both

Epic Games didn’t know that after adding a new payment system to its Fortnite app on the App Store will kick off its app from the Apple App Store and Google Play store permanently. Yes, Epic Games’ popular Fortnite app has now been kicked off from the App Store and Google Play Store after the Epic introduces its own in-app payments system that cut Apple’s standard 30 percent tax fee.

In a result of violating Apple’s App Store guidelines regarding in-app payments, Apple removed the popular Fortnite app from the App Store. Similarly, Google has also removed the Fortnite from the Play store.

Now, in response to this, Epic Games has filed a lawsuit against Apple and Google. Epic on Thursday said it is giving “Fortnite” players the option to buy digital goods for up to 20% less than what Apple and Alphabet-owned Google would charge in their app stores.

Apple in a statement to The Verge said that it plans to work with Epic to “resolve these violations” but that it has no intention to create a “special arrangement” for the company.

Now if you search for the Fornite game app on both the Apple App Store and the Play Store you won’t see the game there. However, you will still be able to download Fortnite using Epic’s own app launcher on your Mobile and Browser version.

Players who have the Fortnite app installed already can continue playing the game on both Android and iOS device. However, new users now won’t be able to download the game on their devices.

Epic Games in its Apple Complain note have also confirmed that “Users who have already downloaded prior versions of the app from the App Store cannot update it to the latest version. This also means that Fortnite players who downloaded their app from the App Store will not receive updates to Fortnite through the App Store, either automatically or by searching the App Store for the update.”

This I think is a total mess, I wonder how one of the largest Fortnite game community is going to respond to this issue.

What do you think about banning of the Fortnite app by Apple and Google? Do let me know in the comments section down below.
