In the past few days, tweets appeared on Twitter, in which it was indicated that selected PlayStation 4 exclusive titles will receive a free PS5 upgrade. However, these are simple fakes.
With the upcoming launch of the PlayStation 5 on November 12 (North America) and November 19, 2020 (Europe), one or the other may have asked themselves whether selected exclusive titles on the PS4 might get a technical upgrade.
As a look at the social media platform, Twitter in the past few days made clear, even would-be pranksters seemed to be aware of this. They quickly created new accounts or redesigned their accounts so that they looked confusingly similar to the official Twitter channels of PlayStation Studios such as Naughty Dog or Insomniac Games. The result was a lot of confusion.
For example, it was pointed out on the said accounts that with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, The Last of Us Remastered or The Last of Us: Part 2 all PS4 titles will get a free PS5 upgrade from Naughty Dog. This should enrich the PS4 adventure with features such as display in 4K and 60FPS or support for ray tracing. In addition, the same applied to Spider-Man.
Both Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog seemed to have responded immediately to the Twitter fakes. In the meantime, the corresponding accounts have been revised again and now make it clear at first glance that we are only dealing with simple fakes.
Officials have not announced any PS5 upgrades for the PlayStation 4 exclusive titles. If anything changes, you will of course find out from us immediately.
