After the Nioh 2 expansion The student of Tengu, the next add-on is about to be launched. Darkness in the capital, as the name is, got an appointment today. The DLC will release on October 15, 2020.
With Darkness in the Capital you can expect new storylines, powerful new bosses, devious new yokai, new guardian spirits, skills, ninjutsu, onmyo magic and soul cores. In addition, you can expect new armor and another weapon. The latter should especially inspire close combat fans.
The first details of the plot were also revealed: In order to clear up the mysterious story of Sohayamaru, the protagonist travels to Kyoto and discovers a shrine with an old box in it. As he examines it, Sohayamaru lights up again and the protagonist is instantly transported back to an ancient version of the capital in the Heian period.
Contrary to its name “Heian Palace,” which means peace and tranquillity, ancient Kyoto was terrorized by countless Yokai during this time period. However, there existed many heroes who were brave enough to oppose these demons. Among them were the most preeminent demon slayer and the strongest sorcerer in history, along with their subordinates and colleagues fighting at their side,” said Tom Lee, Creative Director of Team Ninja.
Ultimately, the protagonist joins the famous hero to put a stop to the horror and destruction of the yokai hordes. According to Team Ninja, he learns more about the connections between a distant past and his own present.
Nioh 2 was launched in March 2020 for PS4.
