Mojang released Caves & Cliffs Part 1 update last month on June 8th, 2021. The Caves & Cliffs update comes in two parts only for the Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft. The first part has already been released as Java Edition 1.17 and Bedrock Edition 1.17.0 on June 8, 2021, which added geodes, copper, and new blocks and mobs.

The second part is set to release as Java Edition 1.18 and Bedrock Edition 1.18.0 at the end of 2021 and will include expanded caves, increased height and depth limit, new mountain generation, and new biomes.

The new Minecraft update was announced in Minecraft Live 2020 and on April 14, 2021. Mojang Studios announced that the update would be split into two parts due to the amount and complexity of content, as well as team health.
