The following motherboards for Intel Alder Lake CPUs are ASUS Z690 with socket LGA 1700.
According to this listing, the ASUS Z690 ROG Maximus will only support DDR5 memory, rather than the existing DDR4 memory. This information would have been confirmed by Toms Hardware, which also assures that ASUS would drop the Roman numbers in its upcoming ROG Maximus series to make things easier for users and to make the models easier to recognize.
The ROG Maximus Z690 Extreme is a gaming laptop by ROG. It will be the series’ flagship motherboard, supporting Intel Core ‘Alder Lake’ CPUs. In addition to the ROG Maximus, the FORMULA, Hero, and Apex series motherboards will only support DDR5 memory.
Things are different with the ROG Strix series, and we have DDR4 memory support, which is also available in the PRIME series. This will be the case for the time being, although it might be updated later to use DDR5 memory.
Only the names and memory media are revealed in this leak of the listing; no further features or specs are revealed. These motherboards, together with Intel Core Alder Lake CPUs and the aforementioned DDR5 memories, should be ready for purchase in November of this year. DDR5 memories will quadruple the speed of existing DDR4 memories. We’ll keep you updated.
The Z690 predecessor, ROG Z590 Series was released by Asus earlier this year. This series included motherboards such as ROG Maximus XIII Extreme Glacial, ROG Maximus XIII Extreme, ROG Maximus XIII Hero, ROG Strix Z590-E Gaming WIFI, TUF Gaming Z590 Plus WIFI, and the Prime Z590-A.
