Sony has announced PlayStation Stars, a new loyalty program for PlayStation users. The new loyalty program aims to provide PlayStation users earn rewards by completing campaigns/activities/trophies etc. The new PlayStation Stars will also allow PlayStation users to earn loyalty points which can be redeemed in a catalog that may include PSN wallet funds and select PlayStation Store products.
”Today, I’m pleased to reveal PlayStation Stars, a brand new loyalty program that celebrates you, the player, for being on this ever growing gaming journey with us. PlayStation Stars will be free to join when it launches later this year. Once you become a member, you’ll earn rewards by completing a variety of campaigns and activities. Our “Monthly Check-In” campaign simply requires you to play any game to receive a reward, while other campaigns require you to win tournaments, earn specific trophies, or even be the first player to platinum a blockbuster title in your local time zone.” Said, Grace Chen, Vice President, Network Advertising, Loyalty & Licensed Merchandise on the PlayStation Blog.
In addition to this, PlayStation Plus members who have joined the PlayStation Stars will also automatically earn points for purchases on PlayStation Store. Users who join the PlayStation Stars will earn rewards by completing a variety of campaigns and activities.
They will also be able to take part in PlayStation “Monthly Check-In” campaign where they will be able to play any game to receive a reward. While other campaigns will require them to win tournaments to earn specific trophies.
The new PlayStation Stars program will be free to join for all PlayStation players when it officially launches later this year.
